The 16th birthday is a big one. It is at this age we learn to drive and we do not hesitate to tell everyone about it.
When we get our drivers license, we are eager to share the news with our best friend.
We are filled with excitement and cannot wait to see the expression on their face as you pull into their driveway.
You are anticipating the moment when they realize it is you sitting behind the wheel of the car and not one of your parents.
Remember how they stopped in their tracks, put their hands on top of their head, and said, "NO WAY!"
You sat there, so proudly. It was around this time you started to believe you had become a grown up.
Did you notice that shortly after receiving your driver's license, you went from being a newly proud driver to wanting to drive a car of your own?
Every teen has this car dream, even you.
Many of us imagine a day, like our birthday or some other special occasion, when our parents say, "We have a big surprise for you, close your eyes!"
You close them and feel your heart racing while picturing what might be waiting for you once you are told to open them.
While you stand there, you are imagining your favorite vehicle sitting in the driveway, sparkling in the sunshine, with a giant red bow on top of its hood.
Unfortunately, for the majority of us this teenage dream does not come true and the more time that passes, we realize, it most likely never will.
Instead, we save up money until we can afford our own car or we wait until our parents give us the keys to their old vehicle, as they purchase a newer one.
It was during our late teen years when we came to terms with the fact that our car dream was over.
Years passed and you no longer felt like a grown-up because you actually became one. The time has come, it is now you who is the decision maker.
You may no longer be a teen, but that does not mean you cannot fulfill your teen car dream.
