The First Ever Speeding Ticket in Tucson, AZ

The First Ever Speeding Ticket

Venessa Pain's Blog | The First Ever Speeding Ticket

We all know the importance of following the rules of the road, but as our history shows, some driving rules have changed, while others stayed the same.

For example, the speeding ticket has been around for a long time.

It may be hard to believe that even in 1896, speeding tickets were handed out to drivers, but they were.

Mind you, the speed limits were much slower then, nonetheless, tickets were given.

The first ever speeding ticket was issued to a man named, Walter Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was caught driving 13 mph in an area where the speed limit was, brace yourselves... only 3 mph!

I know! I too was shocked by this information!

My next thought was, how would Mr. Arnold feel about the speed limits we drive today? Now, that would be a conversation I would have loved to have been a part of!
